NZPF Vice President


Jason is proud to live and work in Aotearoa New Zealand and has been a primary school principal since 1996.  His leadership career spans four schools, in Canterbury, ranging in size from 50 - 550 students and he currently heads up Kaiapoi North School in North Canterbury.
It has been an honour to represent his colleagues, through the NZPF National Executive, since 2018, including as Vice President in 2022-2025. A main focus for him is advocating for professional learning and leadership development for current and aspiring principals. He is also a board member of the Principals’ Legal Support and Advice Scheme.
Jason says it will be a privilege to welcome principals from across the globe and immerse you all in the beauty of our country and share with you the uniqueness and diversity of our Aotearoa New Zealand education system.

Shane Buckner

With over 35 years as a teacher, leader, and Principal, Shane is passionate about sharing his knowledge and skills in the education sector. Shane is the current Principal of Rangiora Borough School in North Canterbury. Immediate Past President of Canterbury Primary Principals’ Association, he has been actively involved in the regional leadership as an executive member for 12 years, with business partnership liaison and membership hauora as key portfolio areas undertaken.

Shane says he is privileged to be a member of the NZPF Business Partnership team and bring these strengths to the ICP Organising committee. Shane sees a real need for schools to connect with local businesses in the ever-changing educational space, so that there may be reciprocal relationships built on authentic understanding and awareness that opportunities for our young people are made even more possible through these meaningful relationships.
